Soothing Spread

This is why we read cards. This moment right now.

While we are in this time that can provoke feelings of fear and vulnerability, your cards can serve as a powerful tool that can pull you out of a fear or shame spiral and bring you to place of neutral introspection and adjusted balance.

I put this spread together for myself as a way to provide comfort. There’s a lot that we can’t control and this spread is about releasing unhelpful concerns, learning what is helpful to focus on, and finding the affirmations that we need to feel at peace during this time.

What to know before you begin

As always, please use these spreads and examples as prompts for your intuition. If you want to tweak a question or use a different type of deck, go for it!

You can use any kind of divinatory card for this spread including Lenormand, Tarot, and Oracle cards. I used a combo of Lenormand and Oracle cards because I am VIBING with two new oracle decks that I just picked up at the Northwest Tarot Symposium (more on those throughout this post!) This is a great opportunity to use your intuition when it comes to deck selection for each question. How do you want each question answered? Want your advice served straight up? Pull Lenormand cards. Do you want a more rounded answer, potentially a bit warmer? Pull an oracle card. You get the picture.

Emily’s Soothing Spread

These are the cards that I pulled for this spread. I used my intuition and selected the deck I felt would be best for each question. I freestyled my way with the format of reading for each question. What is important to note is that I set the intention of HOW I would read each question BEFORE I pulled/interpreted cards. I recommend setting the intention of how you will read the cards before you pull/interpret them to avoid confusion especially if you are using Lenormand.

What concern do I need to release?

Cut Blockages. Remember, this is about what I need to release! You could think this is counterintuitive. I need to release cutting blockages? YES. Remember that the cards directly address the question.

I’m not the world appointed fixer! Each time I am faced with a challenge I am problem solving and trying to find a way to cut through the blockages. I’m an Aries and tend to bulldoze my way through my problems, often leaving a mild trail of destruction. It’s great to have drive but sometimes, drive can get in the way of the divine. Right now, there are a lot of challenges and not all of them have to be solved right this moment. Sometimes, problems need air to breathe and some even solve themselves. I need to stop trying to machete my way through problems at this time and just let some things be.

What will help me release this concern?

House + Whip + Dog

I read this in standard Lenormand fashion and took this to mean: focus on household routines and be dedicated to them. I am a recovering workaholic and usually put the needs of myself and my household on the backburner in favor of getting more done for Emily Rose Divination or my muggle job. However, as many of you know my health has become a priority in my life and I have found that setting my home environment to be more comfortable has helped me to feel more at peace.

What does my higher-self want me to focus on right now?

I read this one, modifier, subject, modifier (If you don’t know what I mean, check out this post on how to read a 3 card spread once you’re done with this).

 Create Your Reality

+

Sun + Crossroads + Clover

I know what this is referencing and it has to do with Emily Rose Divination. I planned to launch a new class VERY soon but felt intuitively it wasn’t the right timing. I was going to machete my way through that issue but I’m being invited to take a different path for the time being which includes getting big mama downloads and creating new and different things. I’m the type that likes to finish what I start so I was hesitant to walk down this path right now but with the mystic archetype as one of my main archetypes, I need to listen to spirit/higher self. This post is part of that!

As soon as I pulled these cards a vision popped in my mind.. I saw a path that was illuminated in front of me. It felt like my higher-self-has already embraced a path and all I need to do is take it. No macheteing required.

I also pulled an Oracle card from the FABULOUS New Orleans Oracle by Fatima Mbodj. I had the pleasure of meeting her at the Northwest Tarot Symposium earlier this month and really enjoyed everything she had to say on the divination ethics panel.

The card I drew here is Create Your Reality. This card suggests that I have grown in my manifestation skills and now it’s time to be intentional about what I want to manifest. This is a time to visualize what I want and the path is ready to unfurl in front of me.

What is an affirmation that will help me with this focus?

For this question, I drew a card from another magical oracle deck, The Opal Oracle. This is a deck created by my good friend Heather Agosta and I cannot say enough good things about this deck. Both this deck and Fatima’s deck have been SPOT FREAKING ON when it comes to how I’m feeling that day and the message I need to hear. This is no exception. This is not a sponsored post. I bought both of these decks and truly use them in my practice.

Be Your Best

I really connected with one of the messages on the card: You have always been doing the best you can.

As I navigate my health journey, it is so crucial to stay in a place of self-compassion and know that I am doing what I can in all aspects of my life. This message was a real heart opener and one I am still resonating with and working to integrate every day.

What will help me feel at peace right now?

This was one of those synchronous moments. I decided to draw two cards, one from the New Orleans Oracle and one from the Opal Oracle.

Gifts and Talents

Message received loud and clear! The same message from two totally different decks. Normally, I don’t publish posts about spreads I do but this last pull inspired me to share how I structure my personal readings so it may inspire others to take some time for themselves or find something useful.

What do you guys think about this spread? Would you like me to create more posts like this? Let me know!

I’m wishing you all peace at this time.

Divinely,

Emily
